Community Service

12 Days of Christmas

Each year we have our 12 Days of Christmas project during which the chapter sponsors twelve community service activities in December. Some of these included a canned food drive, Santa pictures for the MOD, a coloring contest, and wrapping and delivering presents from the Giving Tree.

Adopt-A-Highway

The members of FBLA adopt a section of highway to clean up. Keeping our community area clean of trash is important to the Elgin FBLA chapter.

Christmas Giving Tree

Teaming up with our schools National Honor Society, this year the FBLA chapter purchased gifts for children of two families in our community. The members also helped wrap the presents and deliver them to the children.

Community Service Project

The Community Service team of Miah Slater and Isabelle Sauers organized a "Win for the Wounded" volleyball tournament to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project Foundation. They were able to raise over $1,200 to be donated.

EDGE

Members report FBLA community service activities at the annual round table of Economic Development and Growth Committee of Elgin each year.

Food Drive

Throughout the year, the Elgin FBLA chapter put on food drives for the local food bank and Christmas food baskets. Class competitions, free admission to sporting events for canned foods, and extra credit was given to students who brought in food.

March of Dimes Project

Elgin FBLA completed several fundraisers for the March of Dimes including donation jars, a blanket toss, Santa Pictures, and Valentine Balloon Grams. The chapter raised over $500 for the March of Dimes. Visit March of Dimes to show your support at www.marchofdimes.org.

Red Ribbon Week

Every year we look forward to the one week where we can help others learn about the importance of being drug and alcohol-free. FBLA members lead by Taylor Noble and Ashley Witherspoon sponsored different activities to support the drug-free atmosphere.  Below, FBLA member participate in "Team Up Against Drugs" by wearing their favorite sports jersey.

"Welcome to Elgin" Pocket Park

Elgin FBLA Chapter adopted an area to create a small park to greet visitors coming into Elgin along Highway 82. The pocket park is maintained throughout the year by FBLA members. FBLA also organized and fundraised money to restore the "Welcome to Elgin" sign.  Members (from left to right) Kendrick Johnson, Brandon Howes, and Ashley Witherspoon are pictured below working to beautify Pocket Park.
